Families are central to SFCS’s mission and play a vital role in our community. We invite parents and guardians to participate in board service, volunteer in classrooms, chaperone field trips, attend events or simply stay connected.
Stay Connected
- Family Email List: We distribute information monthly. Sign up by calling (612) 872‑8322 or emailing info@southsidefamilyschool.org.
- Calendar & Important Dates: We follow the Minneapolis Public Schools calendar.
Get Involved
- Classroom & Events: Volunteer as a classroom assistant, tutor, field‑trip chaperone or event helper. Share your expertise as a guest speaker or artist.
- School Governance: Join our parent‑majority Board of Directors or a board committee; attend meetings and contribute to policy and planning.
- Fundraising & Community Service: Help with fundraising events, service projects or special projects such as the spring play or civil‑rights trip.

Testing & Assessment
We provide a district assessment plan and resources for families:
- MCA & FastBridge Assessments: The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments monitor academic progress; families can review the MCA Parent Fact Sheet, testing schedule and opt‑out form.
