Social Justice Curriculum

By addressing issues of racism, sexism, classism, and homophobia at an early age, SFCS:
  • Encourages children to see themselves as citizen activists who can change the world.
  • Helps children avoid internalizing the effects of discrimination by teaching a history of organized opposition to injustice.
Our social justice curriculum motivates children to:
  • Improve their basic skills
  • Study history
  • Think critically
  • Aspire to the achievement of the models they study and meet
Our curriculum comes alive with:
  • Challenging history, world studies and language arts classes.
  • Individualized math instruction emphasizing hands-on activities.
  • Biological, physical, earth and environmental science.
  • Spanish enrichment experiences.
  • A wide range of electives, including art, drama and sports.
  • School community-building traditions, including camping trips, a holiday dinner, graduation and an annual musical play.
